Which Biometric Devices are compatible with TeamNest?
Most of our clients use Essl or Smart Office devices. Both are popular brands for biometric devices. We support devices similar to this configuration http://esslsecurity.com/product/k30-pro.
If you have a different device, please speak to our support team during onboarding, and they will guide you on the integration process. Just ensure that your biometric device uses SQL Server to record logs.
I have an Essl biometric device. What features do I need to ensure it can integrate with TeamNest?
- It should also have an Online Logs downloader which will push all logs automatically at regular intervals that can be configured in the software
- It should support Parallel database export functionalities. We will put our database details in the essl software and the software will push all logs to our AWS database.
What if I don’t have a compatible device? Can I still integrate my attendance logs with TeamNest?
Yes, you should be able to integrate your logs in most cases, even if you do not have a compatible device. Your biometric software should provide the following :
- A desktop application bundled with your biometric device that is installed on a computer having internet access..
- Ability of your biometric software to export your attendance logs data to a remote SQL Server (ask your provider if you are not sure what this means)
- Alternatively, If #2 is not possible, the ability of your biometric software to register logs on a local SQL Server in a single table.

IMPORTANT: Configuring an incompatible device that does not meet the above requirements, may require additional development and support. Please speak with your support representative to understand potential time and cost implications in getting the integration completed
My Biometric Integration sync is not working or has stopped working for ALL employees
Check for the last synced date time From Admin Section > Setup Policies > Attendance. It will show you when the last sync happened. Run through the following steps to see if it helps resolve your issue:
- Check if the biometric code of all employees is updated on the TeamNest portal correctly. If not, please update on TeamNest so that the employee codes are synced.
- Ensure your Biometric device has been added to your TeamNest account.
- Go to Admin Section > Setup Policies > Attendance > Biometric Devices tab where you will see ‘Last synced at’ for all your biometric devices.
- If your biometric device does not appear in this list, then you must add it or ask the support team for help. The data sync will take at least 1 hour once you have added the biometric device.
- Go to Admin Section > Setup Policies > Attendance > Biometric Devices tab where you will see ‘Last synced at’ for all your biometric devices.
- If your biometric device has been added and if the last sync time is not visible, check the last stored log in your biometric software. If the logs exist then most likely the device is not connected to the internet.
- If the last sync time is up to date but the recent logs are not synced, even then most likely the device is not connected to the internet.
- If logs are not visible on your biometric software, then you must contact your vendor to address the issue.
My Biometric Integration sync has stopped working for some employees
- Check the biometric code of employees whose logs are not synced. They should match on both your biometric software and on TeamNest
- Make sure that the code is unique, that is each code should be mapped to only one employee.
- If the biometric code is synced, then check if you are able to see that employee’s logs in your biometric software. If yes, then please ask the support team for help.
My Biometric Integration sync stops working after certain days or time
- Ensure that you have the Online Logs Downloader (for Essl biometric devices with version 10 or above), or similar software for other devices.
- Run the Online Logs Downloader in the background to sync the pending records.
- The Online Logs Downloader will automatically push all biometric logs from your biometric software to TeamNest.
- If you do not have this facility with your biometric software, ask your vendor for help.
